(Water trappers have long recognized the value of locking type slide wires while the technique is still a bit "out of the ordinary" for land trappers. For most of us, we have to work 40-hour/week jobs. This means trapping from the vehicle and as close to the road as possible. Theft suddenly becomes a big problem. Slides can almost eliminate this problem even when trapping within a few feet of well-traveled roads. Road approaches and drainage ditch edges near roads provide ideal slide wire locations. Simply make the set as you normally would (out of vehicles' way) and run a slide wire from the set into the ditch or tall cover type. Give these slides a try on your line. I think you'll quickly recognize their value in providing good locations that used to be a "little too close" to the road.)
